Consultation has concluded
Community and stakeholder groups are being invited to provide comment on the recently completed needs assessment and feasibility study for an indoor heated swimming pool in Collie.
The study has identified a number of options, with varying costs and catering for different community needs.
Before making any decision, Council needs to understand which of the options caters for the greatest need, and how much capacity and appetite the community has to bear the ongoing costs of the project.

At a time when many local businesses are struggling, other technologies are eating away at our base industries, less people are being employed by local industry, we don't need to reward ourselves with a nice expensive present and add to ratepayers burden.

It is time to do something to build the heated pool that has been promised so long ago for the people of Collie.

There is no clear reason given by the Council as to what they are trying to achieve. If swimming for exercise, many outdoor pools operate all year round in Perth. A 25m pool is not easy for doing laps. If recreation for kids, they already have options.

The residents of Collie deserve the equivallent health and exercise facilities that other towns our size and smaller benefit from and enjoy.

Residents have been lobbying for a heated pool for the last 35 years AT LEAST! During that time there has been any number of fesability studies at increasing costs. It is time for the heated option to be taken. It will be a long term asset for locals.

I’d like to see an indoor pool you can use all year round not just half the year and also be open at night so people can access it not just 9-5

As a rate payer who would not use the pool, I am not prepared to pay each year to supply a pool for non-ratepayers. It will be only a very small % of ratepayers who will use the pool regularly. Maybe a study into who will use it regularly is needed.

Whilst it will likely be too shallow for underwater hockey, at least state and world level Players could train through winter leading up to competitions.

Fully support an indoor pool. Rather than cater for the 80 fit people currently involved in swim club & hockey I think the aging population and need for inclusive & rehab facilities (travelling issues) have a much greater need and more long term future.

The big problem is you only want to build a shallow pool. If it was deeper would invite Sports like water polo and underwater hockey to play all year round. Big problem is shire doesn't listen to people. $2mill buys a big shed.

I would happier spending that money on something other nearby towns don't have to draw tourist in. If we needed this pool would have happened years ago but a small group just won't let it die

We need a small Hydrotherapy Pool. Driving to Bunbury to use the Bunbury Facilities is too hard for the Aged and/or Disabled and Injured Patients

Let’s get a water facility we can use all year round instead of two that can only be used half the year ie Albany, Kalgoorlie 🤬🤬
